Getting back in the swing of things

Gosh, where did the summer go? It sure seems to go by faster every year. Ours was filled with lots of gardening, swimming, baseball & a two week trip to my Grandparents cabin in Minnesota. We’ve taken at least one trip there for the last 8 years & it’s something we look forward to all year long. This is the lovely view we get to enjoy while there.

I didn’t get very much sewing in while the kids were off school, so I have been making up for it this last week or two. The girls each got a new back to school outfit before I switched into Halloween/Fall mode. These two are my favorite pieces so far.

I’m so glad that my kids got my quirky sense of fashion. It’s so much fun to sit down & pick fabrics with them. They have come up with some excellent combinations, including some things I wouldn’t have put together on my own. I can’t wait until they’re older & I can get them involved in more of the sewing side of it.

During my downtime this summer, I decided it was time to re-think my business plan. While I absolutely love to dye yarn, I will no longer be offering ready to ship yarn & fiber in my etsy shop. They will still be available in co ops & by custom order as time allows, because I can’t just quit cold turkey.  I will only be offering custom or semi custom children’s knits in the future. I’ll still be stocking at Their Own Knitted World on Hyena Cart, but will mainly be stocking items in sizes my own children can use if they should happen to not sell, as well as offering semi customs with yarns dyed by that months featured fiber artist. I WILL be offering more adult knits on etsy…cowls, scarves, hats, fingerless gloves, & mittens. The majority of the clothing I make will now be on a custom order basis as well. I’m still working out how many orders I can take on each month, but I can usually squeeze something in if asked 😉

Some recent Sewing

cupcake set 3

The birthday set I made for my youngest, who turned 3 last week.

I’m still figuring out this new format, so please excuse the disorganized look. I really need to just spend some time playing with everything to get the feel of it all. I have been avoiding posting anything & need to just get over it & do it already. So far, I really like how easy it is to add photos where I want them.  I also like how easy it was to change the background colors to match my storefront. Now, if I can just get my logo re-sized to fit properly, I’ll be good to go.

I’ve been doing more sewing than anything else lately & just wanted to share a couple of my recent faves.

The birthday set I made for my youngest, who turned 3 last week. The cupcake print is a European import that I’ve been saving for just the right project.  cupcake set 3

A custom applique 1st Birthday set. The pinafore is reversible & the other side is a cute cupcake print.

Retro Daisy Gracie dress made for a stocking at the Capella congo on Hyena Cart. I love this pattern, it’s the Gracie dress from Portabello Pixie & is so versatile!

A fresh start

My logo

I’m starting a fresh blog, so please bear with me as I learn this new format.  I will be posting at least once a week, with shop & custom updates (once I figure everything out, that is).

In the meantime, you can find my wears in the following Hyenacart  shops or my Etsy shop. (stocking the last Friday of the month at 9pm, Eastern) (stocking the third Monday of every month at noon, Eastern time) (stocking the second Thursday of every month at 9pm, Eastern time) (stockings when I have time, updates will be given in advance)
